In addition to her general practice in civil and commercial litigation, Léa is actively involved in a variety of public law files, including matters concerning civil rights and freedoms, administrative law and constitutional law. She also collaborates on several files relating to public contracts in the engineering and construction sectors. As part of her practice, Léa represents both individuals and institutional clients.
Léa joined IMK in 2017 as a student and subsequently completed her article with the firm in 2018. Holder of a Bachelor of Laws as well as a Juris Doctor from the University of Montreal, she has a critical approach and perspective on the Canadian bijural system. Besides her law degrees, she also completed an Innovation Management summer program at the London School of Economics.
Léa is actively involved in the following files:
Hak et al. v. PGQ: A constitutional challenge to Bill 21, Quebec’s religious symbols ban. The trial at first instance should take place in November 2020.
Canadian Coalition for Genetic Fairness v. Attorney General of Quebec, et al.: Léa assisted Doug Mitchell, who was appointed amicus curiae, both before the Quebec Court of Appeal and before the Supreme Court of Canada, on the issue of the constitutional validity of the Genetic Non-Discrimination Act.
City of Montreal and Law 26 : several files related to the recovery of amounts improperly paid in the context of collusion schemes.
SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. et al v. Ben Aïssa et al: a Swiss law firm, sued by SNC in Canada, in connection with fraud and bribery committed by SNC’s officers in Libya.
Regroupement des citoyens du quartier St-Georges inc. v. Alcoa Canada Ltd.: Alcoa Canada Ltd. in a class action concerning allegations of contamination of soil and residences in the Baie-Comeau region.
