Audrey Boctor Appointed to the Superior Court of Québec
IMK is extremely proud to announce that Audrey Boctor has been appointed to the Superior Court of Québec for the district of Montréal.
Since joining the firm in 2010, Audrey has demonstrated exceptional legal skills and remarkable human qualities. She never shied away from a challenge, especially when it came to giving a voice to the voiceless. Her sense of justice and the defence of her clients’ rights have always been more important than awards and distinctions, although there have been many over the years. In particular,
She was one of the youngest lawyers in Quebec to become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers;
This year, she received the Jules-Deschênes Award from the Canadian Bar Association, Quebec Division, for her exceptional involvement and contribution over the years;
In 2020, she was recognized as one of the 25 most influential lawyers in Canada;
She was recognized as a leading litigator by Lexpert, Best Lawyers, Benchmark Litigation and Chambers and Partners.
An exceptional writer and litigator, she inspired us with her constant pursuit of excellence and hard work. Having appeared on numerous occasions before the Supreme Court of Canada, she was appointed amicus curiae of that Court in the Vavilov, Bell and NFL cases, a landmark set of three administrative law appeals that redefined the standard of review in Canadian administrative law.
Our colleague of yesterday is the judge of tomorrow, and we know that she will invest herself fully in this new role that has been entrusted to her. Her empathy and ability to listen will make her an exceptional judge. The Quebec judiciary is being enriched by one of the country’s greatest legal minds.
Our friend, colleague and mentor is leaving us, but it is with great pride that we wish her the best of luck in this new adventure.
